If you haven’t already heard about it, it is an award for bloggers who you think deserve more recognition for their work. The idea is to help other bloggers grow their following with these nominations. There is not an award as such, since being nominated is already a price!
I have been nominated by Tale of Two Sisters, a blog run by two sisters from England who document their travels along the way. Make sure to follow their blog as well as their Twitter to keep up to date with their posts!
I would like to say a big THANK YOU as this nomination means a lot! I have only started this blog a few months ago and so far I have learned so much about this community and love being a part of it, as it is so much fun sharing your adventures while being inspired by other bloggers for your future trips.
How it works:
– You should answer the 11 questions you have been given in your nomination.
– Nominate and write about another 5 to 11 blogs you like.
– Pick 11 new questions for your nominees.
- What has been your favorite adventure you have ever taken?
When I was only 12 I got to live in Bray, a town near Dublin, with a native family for a few months and still to this day I can only remember nothing but good memories, so I would say living in Ireland was my favourite adventure and experience I have ever lived.
- Have you ever been anywhere that has not lived up to your expectations?
A few years ago I visited Slovakia’s capital city during a weekend while I was living in Budapest, since it was only a couple hours away by train. This was also the first and only time I have ever stayed at a hostel and it was a horrible experience! The city was nice but much smaller than what I had expected and two nights was definitely longer than needed, considering we had visited the whole city on the first day and even had some hours to spare.
- What is your favourite travel quote?
“If we were meant to stay in the same place for the rest of our lives, we’d have roots instead of feet”
This is also the tagline of my blog. It is something that has inspired me ever since I first read it and relates perfectly with my mindset.
- If you were to show someone around your hometown where would you take them?
I am from Pontevedra, Galicia, a beautiful city in north Spain. The best thing has got to be the seafood along with Albariño wines! Even though this region is known for its rainy weather, it certainly has some of the best beaches in Spain and in the world! Like it is the case of Rodas Beach in Illas Cíes. So how about a seafood meal with a glass of wine at the beach?
- What is at the top of your bucket list?
Greece has been a dream destination for a few years now, and for some reason I always seem to come across beautiful photos of places like Oia, Santorini, that just blow my mind! It looks so unreal it must feel like you are inside of a photo. Also, the food is something I would be very excited about.
- Tell us about your funniest travel story?
It would have to be my mom randomly joining in a bachata dance group at the beach in Punta Cana! The sad truth is that I have lost all of the footage from that trip except for a video I took of her dancing! But even after so many years, it is probably the funniest video I have ever taken. (Sozz mother…)
- Who or what inspired you to travel?
The first time I ever got in a plane was while I was still in my mother’s womb, and I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel every year. Of course I cannot remember any of the travels in my first years but it is something that I have loved ever since I can remember, and so I have never wanted to stop traveling and exploring different places and learn about other cultures and lifestyles.
I would say what inspires me to travel the most is the feeling I get when I come back, you realize how big and different the world is and how small you and any of your day to day problems are.
- What is your perfect travel outfit?
Leggings and trainers! This was a no brainer as the most important thing while traveling is being comfortable and prepared to walk endless hours for the sake of exploring and discovering new places.
- Do you prefer to visit somewhere off the beaten track or a city?
When it comes to beaches, I much rather go to virgin ones as I enjoy the tranquility listening to the waves reaching the shore, but other than that I am pretty much a city kind of person! I love strolling around amongst locals finding good restaurants, bars and shops.
- What is your favourite season to travel in and why?
Very difficult one to choose as I love traveling all year round and I’d chose a different destination depending on the season but as my favourite I would have to say winter! I love the Christmas holidays and getting to explore other countries during this season as I get a chance to wander around beautiful Christmas markets, learn about different holiday celebrations and maybe even get to see some snow!
- Why did you start your travel blog?
Being a Tourism student I have had to work on some projects about different destinations which have been a great way of learning about places I had not even been to. I realized that it would be so interesting doing this more often and so I thought that writing a blog would help me as an inspiration to learn about other destinations as well as being a place where I could write my own guides, thoughts and tips about places I have been to. Also, being someone with a phone gallery full of photos, I realized I could also share my photography and only try to learn more and become better at it.
