Located in the northeast of Upstate New York, the Adirondack Mountains offer not only spectacular views fom the tops but also a variety of activities, from ski slopes and slides to kayaking or hiking to visiting nature museums and camping amongst others which would make a perfect winter experience!

WHAT TO DO
DAY 1 / Lake Placid
– Arrival at Adirondack Regional Airport (SLK). Rent a car and drive 30 mins to Lake Placid.
– Visit the Olympic Jumping Complex: Take the elevator to the observation deck for a panoramic view of the Adirondack High Peaks. There are winter activities and events like ski jumping showcases.
–Olympic Sports Complex: You will have the chance to try the combinded bobsled, luge and skeleton track.
-Walk through the city center: Eat lunch at one of “The dancing bear” restaurants and drive to Whiteface mountain.
– Have dinner at The Whiteface Lodge resort and ride the Cloudsplitter Gondola for great views. There is a picnic area at the top of the mountain.
For accommodation you can choose a hotel, a cottage or cabin or go camping!
DAY 2 / Tupper Lake
-Drive to Tupper Lake in the morning (aprox. 1h drive) and try some famous baked goods at “Larkin’s”
-Hike Mount Arab: Spend 45 mins walking on the trails. The observation cabin at the top of the tower will give you a 365º view of the surrounding central Adirondack region.
–Raquette river: Canoe and kayak trips and routs. Bring food to have dinner at a “lean to”. You can also rent tents and sleeping bags for camping.
DAY 3 / Wild Center
-Explore the museum: Learn about all the different species in the Adirondacks. They have exhibts and live otters. You can also interact with animals and have lunch “water level” looking at the fish in the pond. (Walkway above the trees in construction)
*North Pole, home of Santa’s workshop: Great place for kids. Walk through the traditional village, go to live shows, rides and feed the reindeer!
-Departure: Drive 50 mins back to the SLK airport. You can stop at Saranac Lake for lunch.
